One of the most kid-friendly cities in Australia, there’s so many hidden gems for families around sunny Sydney. Around Sydney Harbour, regarded as one of the most beautiful natural harbours in the world, families will love Taronga Zoo and Luna Park, The Rocks area – bursting with history dating back to convict times at the Rocks Discovery Museum, and Darling Harbour – alive with atmosphere and activities at the Darling Quarter, Powerhouse Museum and National Maritime Museum. Then there’s the famous Bridge Climb to take in terrific views atop the famous ‘Coathanger’, Sydney Harbour Bridge. There’s no shortage of stunning sandy beaches around Sydney’s shores. A family favourite is the famous Bondi Beach with playgrounds, Bondi Baths, skate park, kid’s surf school, Marine Discovery Centre and more. For less tourist-heavy and beautiful natural beaches head to Sydney’s Northern Beaches – Mona Vale, Narrabeen, Freshwater, Manly and Newport are great choices for families.

For outdoor adventures (so close to the city!) is the Royal National Park’s Wattamolla – a protected beach and shallow lagoon great for picnics and families with young kids; and the extraordinary Blue Mountains with countless trails, scenic lookouts and activities around the area – including a ride on the world’s steepest train!
