Weather: The sunniest city in Australia, Perth experiences hot, dry summers and wet, mild winters. Summer experiences very little rainfall with average temperatures between 17.5 and 30°C. Winters are reasonably cool with temperatures ranging from 8 to 19°C with occasional thunderstorms and downpours. In both autumn and spring days are warm and sunny with mild nights. Average temperatures range between 12 and 26°C with temperatures rarely dropping below 10°C at night, and beautiful wildflowers blooming throughout Spring.

In Australia’s sunniest city, getting outside is the thing to do. Take a family day at one of the city’s stunning beaches – Scarborough beach, City Beach and the iconic Cottesloe Beach are family favourites. Or venture a cruise across Swan River for terrific views of the city. Pack a picnic and head to the lush riverside Kings Park, with more spectacular views over the Swan River and cityscape. Spend time wandering the bushland trails and treetop walkways. Climb around the Naturescape and Synergy Playground, visit the War Memorial and take a tour through fields of wildflowers at the Western Australian Botanic Gardens.

Visit kid-friendly museums, the Old Perth Gaol and Western Australian Museum, or for something different try The Nostalgia Box and Rottnest Island Museum (plus get a selfie with the island’s quirky quokkas!). For animal encounters visit friendly Caversham Wildlife Park. Head down to Fremantle where you can walk the historical Convict Walking Trail and wander Fremantle Markets for its friendly atmosphere, local products and delicious food. Around the Esplanade, kids will love the Youth Plaza’s rock climbing, ping pong tables, skate boarding, playground and Ferris wheel, as well as the Fishing Boat Harbour for a delicious family seafood dinner.
